Vintage Baby Name Sign
I found some vintage alphabet blocks, that I remembered from childhood, at an antique shop and thought they'd be an easy gift to make for a friend. Depending on where you find these, they can cost between 50 cents to a couple dollars.
Step 1: First thing first, select the style of alphabet blocks. Some are Disney, some older than others, and they come in a few different sizes, patterns, insets, etc.
Step 2: I got a wooden plaque from Michael's to glue them onto. To give it an antique feel, I got 'ebony' wood stain and only used one coat. Paint the back first, then front. Let dry overnight.
Step 3: Depending on whether or not you wish to hang it, you can add sawtooth hangers to the back.
Step 4: Using a straight edge align the blocks the way you prefer. I used E-6000 glue to the back of the blocks. It will take several minutes to set. Start with the center piece and work your way outward.
Let the glue dry overnight and your baby sign is all done!
